An elderly woman was struck and killed by a bus Thursday morning in Brooklyn, crushed beneath the front tire of the city Metropolitan Transportation Authority vehicle, the New York Daily News reported.
The victim of the accident, 82-year-old Lyubov Angert, was struck by the Coney Island bus in the East New York section of the borough as she was crossing Seaview Avenue, according to the News.
Witnesses said that the bus driver, who wasn’t identified, began screaming when she got out and saw Angert’s body, the News reported.
The driver threw herself down on the sidewalk and began rolling around in anguish, according to the News. She then fainted at the scene.
Angert was roughly 15 feet outside of a crosswalk when she was hit by the MTA bus, which was attempting to turn left on onto Pennsylvania Avenue from Seaview Avenue.
