Tour Bus Driver Dead, Six Badly Hurt In Crash Near Grand Canyon

A bus carrying Australian tourists crashed near the Arizona-Nevada border Friday when its driver suffered a fatal heart attack, according to The Arizona Republic. Six passengers suffered head injuries, but they were reportedly not life threatening.

The tour bus driven by Ronnie Sparks, 52, of Las Vegas drove off U.S. 93 and then fell down an embankment shortly before 8 p.m., in Willow Beach, Ariz., The Republic reported. He was declared dead at the scene.

There were 48 Australian tourists on the bus, and six were sent to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. Other passengers were treated at Kingman Regional Medical Center and released.

The bus is owned by Silver State Trailways, and was coming back to Las Vegas after taking the Australians to the Grand Canyon, according to The Republic.
